Overview: School of Intelligent Transportation

To adapt to the rapid development of the modern transportation industry and satisfy the needs for skilled talents in the field of digital and intelligent transportation, the former School of Automobiles and the rail-related majors were merged and upgraded to the School of Intelligent Transportation in 2019.

Relying on the cutting-edge technologies and carriers in the field of intelligent transportation, such as automobile, rail and highway, the School of Intelligent Transportation currently offers seven majors: New Energy Vehicle Technology, Applied Intelligent Transportation Technology, Automobile Intelligent Technology, Automobile Inspection and Maintenance Technology, Communication Signal Technology of Urban Rail Transit, Operation Management of Urban Rail Transit, and Automobile Marketing and Service. At present, the School has 43 faculty members, including 7 members holding the senior professional titles and 1 with a doctor’s degree. Among them, 93% of the faculty have a master's degree and 95% are “Dual-qualified Teachers”. There are more than 1,000 full-time students (including international students), and another over 100 students receiving undergraduate education at Soochow University.

The School adheres to the educational philosophy of fostering virtue through education and aims to enhance the graduates’ employment competitiveness. It not only attaches importance to quality training and innovative education, but also emphasizes pertinence and practicality, so as to realize the complete alignment between talent training and social posts. In recent years, teachers and students have won more than 80 national and provincial first and second prizes in various competitions at all levels. The graduate employment rate of the School is maintained above 98%, with many graduates being employed in Nanjing Metro, Suzhou Metro, Xuzhou Metro, Glarun Technology Co., Ltd. (a state-owned enterprise affiliated to the 14th Research Institute of CETC Group), Nantong Metro, Jiangsu Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, Volkswagen 4S stores and other enterprises.

The School is one of the first-batch pilot institutions selected by the Ministry of Education for implementing the “1+X Certificates” (diploma certificate + several vocational skill level certificates) system in new energy vehicle vocational skills, and it has a new energy vehicle training and assessment base. Relying on platforms such as Baidu ABC Automobile Industry College of Beijing Geely University • Nanjing Vocational College of Information Technology, Jiangsu Intelligent Transportation Industry-Education Alliance, and Intelligent Transportation Technology Research Center, the School has carried out in-depth industry- education cooperation with Beijing Geely University, Nanjing Intelligent Transportation Research Institute, Glarun Technology Co., Ltd. and other institutions and is competent in providing talent training, skill endorsement and social services.

By taking advantage of the opportunity of constructing high-level schools and high-level major groups, the School of Intelligent Transportation is striving to develop into an advanced paradigm in training talents for the national intelligent transportation industry and of school-enterprise cooperation.
